Hi Stacey, While I am not a parent, I am a student who is in over 30,000 dollars debt. I hold 3 jobs and am paying for school out of pocket. I have found it very difficult to get aid for school because I work at 3 jobs and my income on paper is too much. In your case you are a single mother with 2 children and cannot work. There are so many programs that schools have to help struggling students like yourself. I would go to the financial aid department and fill out your FAFSA, that federal form will guarantee your pell grant and any other oppurtunities for aid. I would also ask your school if they have any daycare facilities for your children. If not, you may want to look at a neighboring school that does....call around if you have to. In the mean time to make ends meet, try your local church and tell them about your situation and that your are seeking oppurtunities to supplement your bills but in the meantime you need help to help out for this months bills. One other thing I highly recommend you do is go to your local or nearest United Way ....Please. I have done volunteer work with them, and Stacey they WILL help you I promise. It may just be groceries or an electrical bill, or as much as day care for your girls, but definitely check them out!!! I wish I could send you something to help.
